Is it possible to create a link that opens a video in a seperate Windows
media player...i.e. The user clicks "video name" on my web page and windows media player automatically opens up on the desktop and plays the video. I know it seems like this question has been dealt with in this forum, but I've searched around and still can't find an answer to this exact issue. Thanks for any help. -- Cheers |

This is only a partial answer, I admit, but maybe it will help. You can link directly to a video file on your server; as long as it's a recognized file type, and the end user has WMP set as its default player for that file type, it will open and play in WMV, just as you say. It may open with Quicktime, or RealPlayer, or something else, for other people, but maybe that's not a problem. Thanks for the reply. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, because I tried to
do that first thing, but when I run the website the links that point to my videos just send you to a blank page inside the browser with a big quicktime logo in the center and a question mark. Windows media player is my default player, so I don't know why I'm getting this. Maybe there's a setting somewhere that tells quicktime to be your default web-browser-player?? If this is the case then I may fix the problem because the video I'm using is ..mpg and I know Quicktime doesn't like that. -- Cheers "P@tty Ayers" wrote: > > "al" <al@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:F60C3292-D1A4-4309-A091-E00A10C8B54E@microsoft.com... > > Is it possible to create a link that opens a video in a seperate Windows > > media player...i.e. The user clicks "video name" on my web page and > > windows > > media player automatically opens up on the desktop and plays the video. > > > > I know it seems like this question has been dealt with in this forum, but > > I've searched around and still can't find an answer to this exact issue. > > Thanks for any help. > > This is only a partial answer, I admit, but maybe it will help.
