Does anyone know if there will there be support for CMYK in PowerPoint 2007?
I'm working with beta 2 and do not see this as of yet. Thanks! |

If you're working with the beta, you know as much as anyone here other than the softies and others who're sworn to secrecy. Seems unlikely that a major change like that would put in an appearance this late in the game if it hasn't already, though. ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |

Isn't color management an issue on operating system level? And neither
Windows 2000 nor XP can handle CMYK on a PC. I haven't heard of any change in this direction with Vista. I would also guess that since PowerPoint is still a presentation (primarily)
software, the emphasis would stay on screen color -- RGB. However, since you will be printing the slide image (why else would you need CMYK?), why not choose one of the Save As... image types that can then be converted to CMYK formats via one of the Adobe or Corel products? Yes, I know it would be nice if every program exported to every format, but I would expect one of MS's print programs (such as Publisher or Word) to embrace CMYK before I would expect a display program (such as PowerPoint). -- Bill Dilworth A proud member of the Microsoft PPT MVP Team Users helping fellow users. http://billdilworth.mvps.org -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ vestprog2@ Please read the PowerPoint FAQ pages. yahoo. And even if they use it, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're able to use CMYK color. Conversely, applications can use CMYK color w/o color management in place. CorelDraw, Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop and the lot have allowed CMYK color since the bad ol' days of Windows 3.x So while CMYK and color management may hold hands, they're not really connected anatomically. ;-) ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |

That's a little like placing bets on last year's Kentucky Derby. Publisher's supported CMYK for several versions, ISTR. ;-) Poke at the object browser and look at msoColorType ----------------------------------------- Steve Rindsberg, PPT MVP PPT FAQ: www.pptfaq.com PPTools: www.pptools.com ================================================ |
