The problem is that I cannot get into msn to read my e-mail. After I enter a
valid password and username the page will not open. Also when I wanted to upgrade my drivers, I get a message saying that my security will not allow them to open the page. Obviously, there is a block somewhere in my computer. I had Zone alarm installed, so I uninstalled it, then I went thru all the settings for connections and security in control panel, set them to default........but the problem is still there. obviously the block is somewhere in the registry or somewhere else. I will be very grateful if someone advises me where to look and find the block so that I can remove it. Tony. |

Reinstalling XP won't resolve the issue. Something I failed to mention and
I'm not sure whether or not you've tried this amidst everything else that you've done but you also need to clear the IE cache. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, select Internet Options, on the general tab, click delete cookies, delete files (be sure to accept the option to delete all offline content, then click clear history. If you've done all the right things as you've mentioned, and you are still having the problem and have not cleared the cache, then previous instances of attempts to access secure sites can block access. Also, you mentioned having removed Zone Alarm, are you sure you got it all. I believe they have instructions at the Zone Labs web site, www.zonelabs.com for full and proper removal of Zone Alarm. Sometimes remnants of Zone Alarm after a removal can block access. Also, be sure the XP firewall is turned off. Open Network Connections in Control Panel or "Connect to" if it appears on your start menu. Right click your Internet Connection, select properties, go to the advanced tab and remove the check from "Protect my computer...." If it's not checked or you uncheck it and still have an issue, try the following links for additional help and suggestions: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/an...tm#secure_sites http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#dns -- Michael Solomon MS-MVP Windows Shell/User Backup is a PC User's Best Friend "tony chiha" <tchiha@optushome.com.au> wrote in message news:#3G$gZ5QDHA.2768@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > Michael, I am very grateful for your help.
