Default retrieving folders and files from previous operating system???

Hi!
Is is possible to retrieve certain folders and files from Windows 98 after
upgrading to Windows XP? After upgrading, I noticed certain folders and
files that were in 98 C: directory were not in the XP directory after
upgrade. Also, I unfortunately no longer have my 98 disc.
Will this prevent me from being able to retrieve those folders and files?
Please help! Thanks!

If you did an upgrade and these were personal files and folders as opposed
to system files folders, then they are likely on your system but not where
they were before. Go to Documents and Settings in Explorer, expand it, look
for your user name, expand it and you should find them there. If not, if
you can remember the file types, doc for example, just do a search in
Explorer or if you know the names of some of the files do a search using the
file name. Everything should be there.
