Default Audio disappears after adding to timeline/storyboard

I have a number of video files (mpg) that I am trying to add to the timeline.
These files all play perfectly with both audio and video in the preview but
when added to the timeline/storyboard the audio disappears. These files all
playback perfectly and some have even been used successfully in other
compilations made in this same installation of movie maker. In fact, they
have not been moved and are in the exact same import folders - those that
have been used will still play (with audio!) in the previous files, but even
these do not import with audio into the new movies.

Any suggestions? Why doesn't the audio add to the timeline along with the
video portion of the mpg?

Hi Vicki
Symptoms of working with MPEG video with WMM.
I know it sounds strange since you have used some of them successfully
before but MPEG's are very inconsistent with WMM and act up at different
times. Getting them to work from the start of the project to the end
successfully is rare. I suggest you convert them to AVI and use the AVI's in
your projects. I converted ALL of my MPEG's to AVI since starting to work
with Movie Maker (A long time ago now) so that I wouldn't have to worry
about whether or not the video clip will work this time or not.

Default RE: Audio disappears after adding to timeline/storyboard

Hi

Just started using MM2 and had exactly the same problem as well as constant
crashes. I've turned off ALL (59 of them!!!) the codecs using the
compatibility tab except for the Ulead OEM MPEG audio and Video decoder
version 1.0.0.59 (though others seem to work as well) which I have on my
system ....Now works perfect.
Hope you can fine one that works for you

Good luck
