viewing live webcams

I am having a problem viewing live streaming webcams, particularly
from earthcam.com. Some I can view no problem like the ones from
times square. Others will suddenly just close down all open explorer
windows without giving me an error. I have tried many different places
and get the same problem, like with traffic cams in my area and so
on. Some work, some don't. Anyone have any clues or suggestions?

I am running XP professional. This happens both with xp firewall
running and with it turned off. I just can't figure out why it works fine
with some cams and not others.
