as long as one computer...
Will I still have to call or just activate on line.... ? thanks, I can't believe Bill Gates is this generous... I can get the cure for cancer now. wow http://www.electricwindmillcar.com/ Greg's End War on Earth web page. http://www.inventor-warp-speed.com/ http://home.att.net/~inventor84/ my 2 meg home page inventor84@att.net As long as it is only installed on one computer, nothing needs to be said other than it was uninstalled from one computer and installed on another or the hardware was upgraded on the same computer. You do not need to or have to provide more information. ACTIVATION What happens when you change a motherboard or move a hard drive depends on the accumulated changes made within a 120 day period since initial activation. As a precaution the windows\system32\WPA.DBL and WPA.DBL should be copied to a floppy before doing a repair install. For more information see Alex Nichol's article on XP activation. It also depends on the version of Windows XP intended for the move. Retail versions of XP Retail versions of XP can be moved from and reinstalled as many times as you want as long as it is in compliance with the EULA. The EULA states: You may install, use, access, display and run one copy of the Software on a single computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other device ("Workstation Computer") OEM versions of XP Carey Frisch [MVP] wrote: > Changing a Motherboard or Moving a Hard Drive with XP Installed > http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/moving_xp.html > > -- > Carey Frisch > Microsoft MVP > Windows - Shell/User > > Enjoy all the benefits of genuine Microsoft software: > http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.mspx > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > "inventor" wrote: > > | xp moved to p4 mother board from p3 motherboard ok or not $ > | > | Will Bill Gates let me install xp again when I upgrade to a p4 > | motherboard with new memory and hard drive in the same old case? > | > | thanks |
