Default DVD/CD-ROM Drivers

Power failed, system crashed. Upon reboot, My Computer does not read my two
DVD drives. Device Manager lists them under hardware, but right-clicking on
one of the drives to see properties, a message appears saying "Windows cannot
load the device driver for this hardware. Driver may be missing or corrupted.
(everything worked fine before crash).

Is there someplace on this website where I can download the Microsoft
drivers for DVD/CD-ROM drives without re-installing Windows?

Is there any fix without a Windows re-install?

Thanks

Try rt clicking MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives>rt click on each of your
drives and select Uninstall. Restart and let XP reinstall them.

Tried that, but if the file is actually corrupted , it won't re-install. I
found the solution after hours of messing around. Go to kellys-korner-xp.com.
Find "CD ROM or DVD not listed in Explorer/My Computer". Download his patch
and follow instructions. However, I also went to DougKnox.com and had to
download a file called "CDGONE.REG" in order to make my system finally work.
I know not everyone wants to play with the registry but these are legit
websites and were shown to me by a technical support manager at a very large
photo and video editing software company.
Thanks for your suggestion and hope my fix helps others.

Rich, I just searched your name in this forum and see you already know
everything I wrote...sorry for not looking before.
I guess I was "preaching to the choir".
Thanks again...
