Default XP Install problems

I just built a new system basics are P4 3.0 Ghz,ASUS MB,2x512 Sticks Crucial
Mem,Dual 160G Seagate Barracuda HD's,7800 GT Video Card,AcBel 500w
P.S.,Samsung LCD Monitor. I've Got it all together run thru Bios to make
sure all my goodies are seen. I put in the XP Pro cd it satrts to do it's
thing checks config all that stuff, starts in loading a bunch of files and
then it says starting to load windows... Then the Blue Screen comes up
Saying..."A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to
prevent damage to your computer. If this is the 1st time you've seen this
screen restart your computer if not follow these steps:

Check for Viruses on computer, remove any newly installed hard drives or H.D.
controllers. Check HD to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for HD corruption and then Restart. Techincal Info:
***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C8263C,0xC000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

The systems is totally built of new components no refurbished parts I can't
see there being viruses on it, All the connections are good and correct. How
to I get to the spot to do the CHKDSK /F ? And if that doesn't do it then
what can I do to get this baby running? Thanks in Advance for any and all
help on this. I'm a real novice and basic is the key for me....

Default RE: XP Install problems

Open the BIOS,advanced, set youre cdrom with xp cd in it as 1st boot
device,make youre hd 2nd for now,save and exit BIOS.Boot to xp cd,select
install xp,new copy,delete the partition(s),create one,then xp formats and
installs auto. Also,if youre hd is SATA,set for this in the BIOS,also press F6
option when booting to xp cd.

Default Re: XP Install problems

Sounds hw related, double check all conections, set bios to defaults,
excepting perhaps sata / raid options which I assumed by 'dual 160gb
seagate' you mean your using. Use a single ram stick.

The only way to check the hd's would be via Seagates bootable floppy hd
checking utility, available on their site.
Also if indeed they are sata drives are they sata1 or sata2 and does your
mobo support it if sata2

If you had to use the F6 option to install raid drivers your initial
installation would have reported no hd's but check the mobo manual
