Default Transferring files from a corrupt computer

I have a laptop with XP home that has a corrupt registry and will not load
windows. Is there any way I can get my desktop PC, also with XP home, to
recognise the hard drive on the laptop and pull of some files before I do a
system restore?

If you cannot boot the laptop or repair you would need to remove the hd and
connect it via an enclosure or directly to your working sys

You have a couple of choices. One choice would be to get a notebook hard
drive to IDE connector and add the drive as a slave to a desktop system.
My preferred recommendation would be to get a USB external notebook hard
drive enclosure to extract the data.

If you have a BartPE CD or you can find one, you can easily copy files or
even rescue the laptop.

Many people have experienced corrupt Registry problems. I wonder why Windows
cannot just pick the lastest good Registry from Restore Point when it
detects a corrupt one.

Thanks everyone, I can now sort this problem. However, James made a good
point about restore points! That would help everyone who had registry
problems surely?
