Music is Clear Vocals Faint Please help

I download music and try and play it back with windows media player or real
player and the music is clear but the vocals sound like they are barley
coming thru and when you do hear it ever so lightly it sounds as though they
are in a cave. Please if anyone can help I would be very grateful.

try this for windows media player...
turn off the surround effects

perhaps your soundcard has surround effect also?
