If your getting the "missing MSVCR80.dll and can't download Defender" read
the blogs by Steve Dodson and Bill Sanderson=microsoft tech staff. According to them go to your'Start' your bottom left green button and search for file "MSASCui.exe.manifest" and then click right with mouse, click on 'delete' for only this particular file. Then try to re-download Defender again. It works, finally. I've been trying to download Defender this whole week with that same 'missing MSVCR80.dll' problem/bug, and just finally tried out their solution. Of all the security software I've downloaded and use, Microsoft's Defender/AntiSpyware has been the most troublesome; updating definitions and updating engine software. Thank god it's still free, but it still remains a low effective antispyware program. 4-22-06 ~3:38am est. |

Correction - Steve's official--I'm just a volunteer looking in on these
groups--definitely not Microsoft--just trying to give accurate info. -- "just another web surfer" <justanotherwebsurfer@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:17505747-BC85-4A58-8030-0EFC689CA9F4@microsoft.com... > If your getting the "missing MSVCR80.dll and can't download Defender" read > the blogs by Steve Dodson and Bill Sanderson=microsoft tech staff. > According > to them go to your'Start' your bottom left green button and search for > file > "MSASCui.exe.manifest" and then click right with mouse, click on 'delete' > for > only this particular file. Then try to re-download Defender again. Thank you! you've ended hours of frustration. Deleting the file and
reinstalling works. -- Bob "Bill Sanderson MVP" wrote: > Correction - Steve's official--I'm just a volunteer looking in on these > groups--definitely not Microsoft--just trying to give accurate info. > > -- > > "just another web surfer" <justanotherwebsurfer@discussions.microsoft.com> > wrote in message news:17505747-BC85-4A58-8030-0EFC689CA9F4@microsoft.com... > > If your getting the "missing MSVCR80.dll and can't download Defender" read > > the blogs by Steve Dodson and Bill Sanderson=microsoft tech staff. > > According > > to them go to your'Start' your bottom left green button and search for > > file > > "MSASCui.exe.manifest" and then click right with mouse, click on 'delete' > > for > > only this particular file. Then try to re-download Defender again. Thank you! thank you! this advice works!: " go to your'Start' your bottom left green button and search for file "MSASCui.exe.manifest" and then click right with mouse, click on 'delete' for only this particular file. Then try to re-download Defender again." I've been going spare trying to solve this. |
