services.msc and aspnet state service error

When I open services.msc and try to start aspnet sate service, I get an error
1053: the service did not respond in a timely fashion. The components
Administration support tools, asp.net 1.1, and .net framework 1.1 are all
added to the image with dependencies autoresolved. Also, some applications we
had written previosly with .net on a our evaluation version of xpe, do not
always run in the full version. A dialog box comes up that says we must
install .NET v1.1.4322. The applications run fine until we added the
component Administration support tools. If anyone can help, thank you. I am
using SP2 full version.
