Try going in via Windows Update, doing an express scan, and applying all
offered critical updates. Am I correct that you are seeing this error when updating within the program? -- "Anthony" <Anthony@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2A12FD9A-26CA-4473-B866-8B505D1BFD31@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > Afetr installation...I'm trying to perform a definitions update on Windows > Defender (beta2) and I receive the following error, "0x80040154 Class not > registered". Hi,
Yes, you’re correct…I see the problem when trying to update within the program. I can’t perform a normal Windows Update as my laptop is located on a corporate LAN (error 0x8ddd0003). Updates are managed differently and not via internet. Could this be the problem? If this is the case, I should be able to update the definitions when I’m not located on the corporate LAN? Any suggestions... ------ "Bill Sanderson MVP" wrote: > Try going in via Windows Update, doing an express scan, and applying all > offered critical updates. > > Am I correct that you are seeing this error when updating within the > program? > > -- > > "Anthony" <Anthony@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:2A12FD9A-26CA-4473-B866-8B505D1BFD31@microsoft.com... > > Hi, > > > > Afetr installation...I'm trying to perform a definitions update on Windows > > Defender (beta2) and I receive the following error, "0x80040154 Class not > > registered". This is probably the case. If your corporate network uses WSUS to
distribute patches, the administrator can make Windows Defender definition updates available via WSUS. Whether you can reach Windows Update when not on the corporate network depends on the care with which your machine has been locked down. In the end, if Windows Defender isn't sanctioned by corporate policies, you may need to choose another solution. -- "Anthony" <Anthony@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A6ABD11A-0B0C-4D8E-A90B-7845EB73ABB4@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > Yes, you're correct.I see the problem when trying to update within the > program. > > I can't perform a normal Windows Update as my laptop is located on a > corporate LAN (error 0x8ddd0003).
