Default Error Messege Recieved When trying to install Defender

I am using a legitimate copy of windows XP SP1 which I have updated to SP2.
This is the second time I have installed this operating system on this
computer because of a hard drive issue, and did not have this problem last
time. However when I try to install defender it gives me this messege on the
progress bar page. " To install this software, you?need to?obtain a? valid
Windows product key. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services using the
options provided on the Microsoft Help and Support website. " I have already
tried redownloading the program, but I get the same messege

There's some support for the WGA process--here's a link.

http://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...aspx?Gprid=9860

The only other person I've referred said they wouldn't help him because he
had an OEM version of Windows (as, of course, many people do)--but it may be
worth trying.
