Default Excel 2003 opening problem

If i click on any excel file excel opens blank grey page. I then have to
click file and open and search for the file. It then opens fine. Why won't it
open initially? It only started about a week ago.

I have the same problem with Excel XP - I found the problem today;
if I click a file from Explorer, I get the grey screen (& no, the file is
not minimised), but even stranger, when I click a shortcut, I get an error
message saying the file can't be found (& yes, I right-clicked shortcut,
properties, find target, which was found immediately!). I have tried repair,
reinstall, but the problem prevails.
The problem is not replicated in any other Office program, just Excel...

In Excel, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the
"Ignore other applications" box | OK.

If the above doesn't help, then close Excel and re-register Excel
in Windows by clicking on Start | Run | Open: excel /unregserver
| OK | Open: excel /regserver | OK.
