Had it for about a year until going over to Avast! (freebie/home user
version of a product marketed to commercial users...) a couple of weeks ago.

A negative experience:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1) When TrendMicro did respond to HelpDesk inquiries shortly after
I got the product, their responses were so inane and filled
with meaningless boilerplate that it almost seemed better
not to bother. I eventually got a straight answer, but I'm not
it was worth the heartache and frustration over a period of almost
a full week.

2) Recently (for the past three months or so...) I've made at least
a half-dozen requests to their Help Desk for the same problem but
received no response. Others have commented similarly.

3) There is a flaw in their firewall's warning dialog implementation.
When something from outside tries to get to your PC, a warning dialog
pops - but the dialog takes focus. i.e. If you're trying to type something
into MS Word, your keystroke will be "swallowed" by the dialog.

Sounds harmless - but there are malware programs out there that, once
they get into your PC, keep issuing requests to outsiders to probe your
PC.

The probes fail because TrendMicro's firewall intercepts them.
However the probes may come at a rate of two or three per second.
Hence, your PC is rendered unusable as TrendMicro's dialog keeps
popping over-and-over.

The workaround is to reach down and unplug your ISP connection.
But if that doesn't occur to you at the time you're not going to
get any work done until you figure out what's going on; locate the
malware; and remove it. Been there, done that...

Sounds pretty bad.
I just bought it on eBay for $19. plus shipping.

1) Yes, with the previous versions PCC 2004/2005
2) The product has become mediocre, at best, since the 2004 version.
Malware detection rates are average.

There are far better choices. Personally, I would suggest stand-alone
security products, rather than suites.

There's a reason it's on eBay for $ 19.

I've loaded it for clients and I like it (PC-cillon 2006). Almost
maintenance free like Trend's Officescan product for the enterprise. Good
scan engine and very frequent sig updates.
