The following is a copy of a spam I received. Any suggestions on how to stop it?
I also receive SPAM that is addressed to someone else. My email addy was never
mentioned in a 'properties' look.
How does that happen?
Thanks.

From your header, your ISP is comcast. They use the Brightmail spam
filter, which is pretty good. Look in the FAQ under spam to find out how
to activate Brightmail. I found
<http://www.comcast.com/Support/Corp1/FAQ/FaqDetail_1560.html> but you
might have to dig a little deeper.

Consider using webmail,
<http://www.comcast.com/Support/Corp1/FAQ/FaqDetail_2251.html>, to select
obvious spam and delete it from the server before you download your email.

Your address is in the BCC: (Blind Carbon Copy field of the spam.

Welcome. There's no need to post the spam, we all have our own copies.

And your spam has what to do with a VIRUS, the topic of this newsgroup?

This is an anti-virus group. alt.spam is over there --->

Having said that, you can't stop spam, you can only filter it out.
I see you're using OE, which is hopeless for this purpose. Your ISP
may have some options for filtering spam at the server, which may or
may not be reliable, and may also catch some good mail. Probably your
best bet is to install some software between OE and your mail server.
Spampal comes highly recommended, and it's free.

Normal spammer behaviour.

Spam came from 216.110.122.133, which belongs to Cable & Wireless in
the carribean, and is allocated to caribsurf.com

I know it's the "wrong" group, but having read this, I'll
pass along the fact that I've tried a few anti-spam email
add on programs including a straight bayesian filter.

At this moment, and for the last few months, I've been using
Spam Bully and it works quite well. They have a version for
Outlook (which I use) and another for OE. Just be sure to
turn off the junk about sending a return email and stuff
like that.

You must use a spam filter. Don't bother trying to stop from receiving
it. Your ISP may have server side filters, sign up for that first.
Otherwise filter them out at your own machine with best spam filter I
have found.

Well, it was done because there are very many sharp folks who post here and I
had no luck in the anti-spam ngs I tried.
