opengl issues..

Hi there..

Really weird issue: I installed the ATI drives on my machine and got
opengl successfully running on my dell laptop.
I shut down the machine, and start it up again.. (Starts up on init 3)
...
I startx, and opengl isn't running anymore.
I re-boot, startx again, and it DOES start..
I shut it down on Friday, and on Monday I start it up again.. And
opengl isn't running anymore.

Has anyone come across such behavior?
I'm running opensuse 10.0, and, as mentioned above, ATI hardware on a
dell latitude d610 laptop.

My glxgears run at:
3960 frames per 5 seconds, and around 792fps.

This is WAY lower than when I tested it with opengl running.

Is there a way to activate it once x has loaded? Can it be turned
on/off?
