My last minutes on a windows system.
My company already switched to Suse. Been testing this old system with the damnsmalllinux (.org) live-cd, runs like lightening. Simple, but more than good enough for email, webbrowsing and playing mp3's. Doing a hd-install after this post. No flame intended, actually I still think Bill and friends did a great job, and pc's wouldn't be such an appreciated part of our daily lives without him. Thanks to all in this group for all the freeware-help in the past. I'm getting my azz out of here. -- Azzman |

With all the freeware / open source for Linux, why wouldn't you ask for help or inforem others in *this* group? It is not for windows only, it is what we make it :-) regards from still windows-user, but will try Ubunto 5.10 Breezy Badger "some day soon"... |

I'm sure it's a fine distro but it sounds like it should be on a little
girl's laptop ;-) Louis "mike555" <mikehes@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1139226285.720032.27160@g44g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... > === if you think DamnSmall is fast ,you should try "Puppy Linux" , it > runs in RAM so it's really fast ========= > |

I just successfully set up a dual boot WinXP/Linux box for me and my wife. Tested it and it runs fine. I have been wanting to go 100% linx for a while now and I think I can with the current setup (once I get the NTFS issues worked out with some neat free software). I have been doing a fair bit of my work on a Linux box at work and my old slow server at home, but I really wanted to tap the power of my 3 gig machine with Ubuntu. I still plan on hitting this group for freeware my wife can use and for those odd times I am on the Windows box. -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ El Gee // www.mistergeek.com <>< Know Christ, Know Peace - No Christ, No Peace Remove .yourhat to reply ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
