Hello-
I am a happy convert from IE to Firefox. I have found, though, that there are some instances when I still need to use IE. I downloaded and use the IE View extension when I need to switch over and it works really well. I find, predictably, that when I am working hard, I sometimes forget that I have switched over to IE and get confused that my Favorites are not the same as my Bookmarks in Firefox. Also, I now use Firefox so much more, that I don't bother, really, to maintain my Favorites anymore. What I'd like is to maintain all of my Bookmarks in Firefox, making that the standard. I'd like to delete my existing Favorites in IE (easy to do) and import my bookmarks from Firefox, maybe on a weekly basis. I have run through the IE Import wizard a few times trying to import the bookmarks.htm file that I have found in these two places. c:\program files\mozilla firefox\defaults\profile and ....documents and settings\local service\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles In each case the result is an error converting the bookmarks. Is what I'd like to do possible? |

There is a Firefox extension that will do this: SyncMarks: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensio...numpg=10&id=350 But it hasn't been updated for FF 1.5. There are ways around this, but I use PlainOldFavorites, which allows Firefox to use your Favorites directly: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensio...numpg=10&id=668 I prefer Favorites, as each link is a file. Mozilla/Firefox's Bookmarks are all stored in 1 file, so I don't trust that it won't get cross-linked or overwritten and then all your sites are gone! -- Jim Allison Usable Freeware -- www.usablefreeware.com |

But of course we all have backups, so it doesn't matter that much. ![]() |

(Only works on recent builds of Firefox and Thunderbird, branch and trunk since 20/08/2005). |

Thanks for all these replies. I can see that most of you prefer to use
PlainOldFavorites and I see why. Before implementing that, I'd like to be sure that I can get my Favorites up to par with my Bookmarks. Since I started using Firefox, I've been doing all my organizing in that, not IE. Best way to do that? Using PlainOldFavorites, can I manipulate my Favorites from Firefox? Or do I have to add, delete, rename and such from IE? Thanks again for your feedback... |

Just a shot in the dark: How about importing your Firefox bookmarks in IE (file>import/export, and after that importing your IE favorites into Firefox ? -- Azzman There's no place like 127.0.0.1 |

You can do everything bar move the favourites via the click and hold method. Clicking on 'Organize Favorites' opens up the list with the Firefox organizer. Hi Azzman-
Thanks for the reply, but ... As mentioned in my first post, that does not work. Hence this thread. If I could import into IE, I'd be done by now. My problem lies in the fact that IE does not recognize the bookmarks.htm file and now that my Favorites are substantially old and out of date, I want the Firefox list moved over to IE some other way. |

That's great! Can I use PlainOldFavorites to move my Firefox bookmarks
over to IE Favorites? I tried SyncMark and it did not do the job. Probably due to the out of date version as mentioned in Jim's post... |
