Default normal.dot

How do I edit normal.dot, so that when I open Word the new normal.dot
should come up?

I have pdf makers on the toolbar. I always delete them, as they take up
unnecessary space. I can always print to pdf, using Disteller. Why do I
have to delete them each time? Why can't it remember what I did?

You should find the Normal.Dot template here:
c: / Documents and settings / <Username> / Application Data / Microsoft /
Templates
You can then edit it and save it

Does not work. When Word pops up, I get the menu items for Adobe PDF. I deleted
them, saved Normal.dot. Doesn't work. This dammed Adobe stuff insists on being
there.

Editing Normal Dot will not remove these icons regardless of what you do.
The icons are part of the toolbar. have you right clicked on the toolbar and
checked to see if they can't be disabled from there?
