Need Help on PPC

Hi

we have an Database Application for PPC's .
The Database can become quite bit, are there any PPC where are more
then 64 ROM aviable ?
the MDA Vario has officially 128MB ROM but in Real life there were only
48 able to use at all.

May anyone explain me why it's like this?
Which PPC's would have more space?

I don't know of any. Can't you use pluggable storage like an SD or CF card?
