Ted & Squire, XP routinely ignores the bios setting for the Num Lock key.
See Ronnie Vernon MVP's post later to see how to correct this XP "quirk". XP will normally restore on boot the "last known" setting when shut down but not always. Thanks for that info. I've never had a problem with NumLock staying on with
