Hey guys, we are so close, don't fade to black on me here.
i still need a contact phone or email to finish up the issue - see the 2/28 post at 1:24pm by Alan with subject Re: HP Jet Direct (Now Media Center and HP 3310) Who at HP understood the missing SKU issue? Thanks Clark |

Hi Clark...
I've got the same problem too. Cari alerted me to the problem with XP MCE but I've heard nothing else. I asked her about an update or news on a potential fix and have gotten no reply. It looks like we are stuck with Microsoft and HP playing ostrich and sticking their heads in the sand on this issue. If you would like a reference to other things that I have tried... see my post on 2-2-06. The only difference that I have from your issue is that my Photosmart printer worked flawlessly for over a year then stopped one day... not long after one of Microsoft's "automatic updates". Multiple tries to uninstall and reinstall the driver after this did no good. Good luck. If I run across a solution I'll post it in this group. Tom R. Hi Tom. I dont think we have the same problem (other than having
trouble getting it addressed). Mine is that the setup program for the 3310 wont run on MCE, so I cant get the software installed. -- Clark On Fri, 3 Mar 2006 23:05:38 -0600, <thomr01@bellsouth.net> wrote: >Hi Clark... >I've got the same problem too. Hi Clark,
Thanks for the reply, It may be related... according to Cari the driver I installed will not complete it's installation because of incompatibility with MCE. Both problems revolve around Hp driver incompatibility with XP MCE. Best of luck... Tom "Clark" <nonworking@nowhere.com> wrote in message news:4b3j0296sdntu1n2q5vhj24m53i1qjqvlp@4ax.com... > Hi Tom. Maybe. And I have the ear of a guy working out of HP's office of the
President, so I can get this fixed if only Alan / Cari can pass along the contact info of the HP person who understands the SKU problem. As far as I know no one from HP has investigated the issue. I just passed
the data along to the HP driver developer here. There was someone from the Media Center team that downloaded the driver and said it was doing a version check and failing. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Alan, I want to make sure I have this right.
You are saying that some Microsoft employee on the Media Center team checked the driver and found that the driver was failing a version check. And that this information was passed along to an HP driver developer in residence at Microsoft, but as far as you know, no HP person is investigating. Is this a correct understanding? And if it is, would it be possible for me to get contact information for the HP person to whom the information has passed? Thank you. you have this correct. I pinged the dev this morning. There was similar
post for the HP 1320 yesterday. I won't post his name unless he gives permission and not in this forum anyway. OK some light in the tunnel regarding the 3310 setup.exe file not
being able to run on my XP MCE computer which I am sharing here just in case it will relieve someone elses pain also. There is another file, hpzsetup.exe, on the CD (made known to me by Alan, thank you) which would at least run!! What the difference is between that and the setup.exe file I have no clue. It appeared to be installing all the HP software but after about an hour, it was stuck in an endless loop of copying files / registering / verifying / removing files / copying files / registering / etc etc. It was 96% of the way through the install process at that point. Anyway, I finally forced an End Task and to my great surprise, it seemingly finished the install. After all that the desktop icon to start the HP Solution Center only opened an unresponding program. However -- I discovered the installed file hpqscnvw.exe which turns out to be the scanner and which WORKS and which was the big issue in the first place. The fact that I cannot run the Solution Center bloatware is of little concern to me so, other than the fact that there is a ton of useless software now on my system, I am at least in business. A special thanks to Cari and Alan who have hung in there on this issue, without people like them these newsgroups would be sad places.
