Cannot Remove Disconnected Network Drive

Hi!

This sounds funny but I encounter this on my PC. I Have mapped a shared
folder to drive W: so when I open the explorer, I must see "SharedFiles on
SERVER01 (W", but it didn't. It displays "Disconnected Network Drive (W"
but if I try to disconnect it, it gives an error message, "The network
connection could not be found but if I try to click on the drive, I can
still see the file and folders. I try to browse it thru command prompt (net
use) but I can't find Drive W:. If I run "net use W: /delete", it gives me
same error, "The network connection could not be found". If I will run "net
use W: \\SERVER02\SharedFiles" , it gives me "system error 85 has occured.
The local device name is already in use.

What happened? Is there a way where I can disconnect this shared folder on
drive W:?

Did you try:
Right-Click My Computer | Disconnect Network Drive... | select share and OK

I've run into a similar problem a few times where a share shown as
disconnected can neither be deleted nor reconnected. I found that removing
the key for that share under
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2]
and then logging off and back on cleared it.
The key for your share will look something like this ##SERVER01#SharedFiles

I found this by my own investigation and have never seen it discussed
elsewhere. It seems to work well but, as always, be careful when editing
the registry.

Yes I did but still error occur.

I have tried as what you've indicated but still same error occur. I will try
to restart my compluter if it will help.

I had a similar problem and this worked for me...
First, you need have a "Shared Folder" on your hard drive. If you haven't got one already, create a new folder on your hard drive called "Shared", then right-click it and select properties. Click the Sharing tab and tick the "Share this folder" box. Next, click "My Computer" and in the Tools Menu, click "Map Network Drive". Notice the little down-arrow next to the drive letter shown. Click the arrow to get a list of letters. Select the one you want to delete, then browse for your Shared folder and select it. By this means, you will assign the drive letter to a real folder. Make sure the "reconnect at login" box is un-ticked. Click the Finish button to get a warning. Answer YES and the Shared folder will open. Close it. Next, right-click the drive in My Computer and select disconnect. Ah, I hear you say, but it is still there! Re-boot and have another look - enjoy!
