Default Still trying to get rid of Altnet

Tried Spyware Doctor last week and it identified - and keeps identifying -
the following. As none of my other scanning devices - including Windows
Defender, Ad-aware, Spybot, etc - have identified this spyware, I wonder
whether it is some sort of "bait" to tempt me to purchase Spyware Doctor.

Any advice would be welcome.

Altnet Software
Bundled with Kazaa. Installs a Browser Helper Object which loads when IE
started.

Registry
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\C:/WINDOWS/System32/msvcirt.dll
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\C:/WINDOWS/System32/msvcirt.dll##
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\C:/WINDOWS/System32/msvcirt.dll##.Owner
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\C:/WINDOWS/System32/msvcirt.dll##{C0E10B5C-DA42-11D3-9FED-0004ACF74B57}

Default RE: Still trying to get rid of Altnet

Hello Engel

Going through the steps outlined on the website you recommend, I cannot find
any mention of altnet - hope that is a good sign - so could not carry out the
steps indicated. I did download and run a scan with Spyhunter (also
recommended on the website) which found absolutely nothing to report on my
computer.

I can find C:/WINDOWS/System32/msvcirt.dll - as listed in the Spyware Doctor
report - but not sure what to do with it!!!

This morning I ran a scan with Panda (as recommended in a Microsoft Crash
Analysis). It did not find any altnet spyware - but found the following -

Adware –

C:\WINDOWS\didduid.ini
C:\WINDOWS\inf\biA.inf
C:\WINDOWS\system32\BO2802040113.dll

Again - I can find these items but do not know what to do with them.

I think these antispyware programmes must search for their own pet spyware!

At least Windows Defender, Spybot, Ad-Aware - and now Spyhunter - have given
my computer a clean bill of health!

Many thanks

Alvis
