Windows Defender: error 0x80070002. Cannot scan.

All of a sudden Windows Defender refuses to scan; I get prompted to scan, but
when I try to do so the following message appears:

Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x80070002. System cannot find the
file mentioned (the latter is translated from Dutch; it says: Systeem kan de
opgegeven file niet vinden).

Anybody any idea? Thanks in advance!

Recently I received the same error message when I tried to initiate a
scan. Can't tell you what the problem is, but I thought you might like
to know you're not the only one experiencing this problem.
