I have just installed Beta 2 and it now shows that "Window Defender
definitions haven't been updated in 23 days" and to check for updates. When I do this however, I get the error message "Windows Defender was unable to complete the upgrade: 0x80072f8f " Does anyone have a fix to this as the reply for Microsoft is that "assisted support for beta and pre-release products is not available. Once the final release version of the product is publicly available, support via this service is offered. In the mean time, Microsoft Newsgroups are available and are a useful source of information." Lauri,
I too got the error when I tried to check for updates through Windows Defender. Since Windows Defender is integrated with Windows Update I then went to Windows Update in Internet Explorer. There was an update available for Windows Defender. I installed it and it installed without issue. Give that a try. Is there a firewall which might be blocking? Do WindowsUpdate and

Hello Lauri,
At command prompt, register your time and date, one of those is off, I have the year 2006 as a 2000 and I got the same message 0x80072f8f, after the change, I was able to complete the update.
