Is the Internet a great way to spread information, promote free speech and communicate with people from all over the world...
...Or a commercialised web of spam and pornography that is making everyone lazy and recede from the real world?

Internet in my opinion is like going on the streets and having the dicipline, you cross the street with your eyes open, you stay away from bad areas, you need to know which places are good to visit, you are watchful of thugs and thieves.
When on internet following applies. Smart is when you believe half of what you hear (read), Brilliant is when you know which half to believe. Internet is a wonderful thing.

On the whole I think it's a very good thing, but there are some areas where you need to be careful.
It's no different than the big wide world, but may be the bad things are a little more accessible than those off-line areas. It gets my vote for a big thumbs-up
