I'd like to set up a database of articles and how to's, that people could
submit themselves. I would also like to be able to send an email of recent postings, perhaps once a week or once a month. What is the best way for me to do this? Should I set up a Discussion Web? How would I pull together the links of recent postings into an email? Would I have to manually do this or can it be automated? Also when I set up the Discussion web (having not done one before), does it capture emails and can I some how automate the sending of emails and allow people to subscribe and unsubscribe?...or would I set up the email list separately? |

You will need to learn server-side script and use a database to accomplish this based on what is
supported by your web host. -- ============================================== Thomas A. Rowe (Microsoft MVP - FrontPage) ============================================== If you feel your current issue is a results of installing a Service Pack or security update, please contact Microsoft Product Support Services: http://support.microsoft.com If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a security update, then there is usually no charge for the call. ============================================== "bond" <bond@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EA1CB2B1-DBED-49B5-80C7-4DB437662CE9@microsoft.com... > I'd like to set up a database of articles and how to's, that people could > submit themselves. The dicussion web as you describe above is not that complex - it simply has a form that people enter their post on, click submit, and it displays on an HTML page. If you need something with user-signons and so forth try www.phpbb.com and www.yabb-forum.com (or any other to suit your hosting environment). Your host may even provide such a feature (discussion forum/bulletin board) as part of your hosting account which can be turned on/installed through your hosting control panel (e.g. CPanel). |
