PC 1: HOST: Windows XP Home Edition
PC 2: CLIENT: Windows Media Center Edition Software in issue: Amicus Attorney V The above software is installed in PC 1. It requires C drive from PC 1 to be mapped in PC 2 Client so the clients would be able to use this software and PC 1 would act as a server for this software. Problem: I am unable to map PC 1's C drive on PC 2 because of "Access Denied" errors. Is the reason because of Home Edition? Or can I choose Connect using "different user name" so I would have access in PC 1 thru a mapped drive in PC 2? If so, what do I type for username? \\PC1\username? or \\PC1\C\username? Please advise. Thank you. Gino |

To access a share it would be \\PC NAME\SHARE NAME, just a little tip though
its not advisable to share the root drive ( ie : C ) its more secure to share the folder on the C drive that you need to access. Hope that helps ? Hi,
Remote users should authenticate as guest, you shouldn't have to indicate any specific user account for file sharing (that's a domain feature, not used in a workgroup). Problems of this nature are usually due to no shares being setup on PC2, or because a firewall is in place (the pre-SP2 windows firewall is a known issue requiring that ports be explicitly opened for this purpose). -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Associate Expert - WindowsXP Expert Zone www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone Windows help - www.rickrogers.org " - 781" <lets@have.org> wrote in message news:eCe6dVhLGHA.2604@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > PC 1: HOST: Windows XP Home Edition > PC 2: CLIENT: Windows Media Center Edition > Software in issue: Amicus Attorney V > > The above software is installed in PC 1.
