the msconfig startup tab displays the startup items which can be enabled or
disabled. how do i delete the items in here? I already uninstalled the
programs related to these and even deleted the registry entries.

If you're referring to items which have been unchecked but
still appear on the Startup page of msconfig, you can do the
following to remove them:
Start the Registry Editor.
Navigate to this location,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
Delete any subfolders.
Do the same for this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder

If you want, a script is available that will do this
automatically:

Good luck
