Default Lightscribe

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a HP Pavilion M1250 with XP Multimedia on. It has
a HP DVD writer 640b installed and apparently has lightscribe capabilities.
However all the software that came with the PC Sonic, InterVideo etc just
freezes up when I go to print to the CD and yes I have turned it upside down
and yes I have looked on HP web site for driver updates, but HP does not even
recognise this type. Any help on updating the drivrs or software would be
grateful.

Regards
Steve H

Instead of looking on the site I'd consider giving them a phone call.

We had a problem with my wife's HP lightscribe. The program you are
trying to run did work, but the DVD writer was bad. During the session
with each of about 5 techs they sent me to a site for an update on the
Sonic/Lightscribe software. You might get hold of HP support. It took me
about 5 agents and 0ver 15 hours using the Java direct support to
finally to determine the drive was bad. They sent me a new drive overnight.

Steve, yes it would burn the CD/DVD, but when we flipped the Lightscribe
disc over The software would run, but nothing would appear on the
Lightscribe disc. After getting the new drive everything worked. I was
just disappointed with the time spent to get to someone finally running
the PC Doctor and testing the drive. I kept all the support sessions,
amazing how much duplication there is in HP support and yet they have a
hard time understanding the problem.

Steve,

I live in Tempe, AZ. I used the Help and Support feature to contact
them. I did a search of the knowledge base but couldn't find a solution
for the write by the Lightscribe software and the lightscribe media.

Within the Help and Support there is a feature to use the Instant or
Internet Help support to HP. I used the java application to contact an
HP agent. It takes a long time to get to the problem, because it seems
they use the same script, and when you do something often times the
action requires a computer restart. That means you lose the agent you
were working with and have to start all over... ;-)

If your computer has PC doctor, which should be located under either HP
tools or System tools, run that on the Lightscribe drive. This may help
in talking with them. My older laptop doesn't have this, but my wife's
three month old PC desktop does.
