Default XP PRO does not recognize 3rd HDD

5 have a pentium 4 with asus k8v SE mboard. bios recognizes all 3 HDD's
and CD. XP does not recognize secondary slave which is Maxtor 6L250R0. The
primary master is Maxtor 6B250R0 and the secondary slave is 6L250R0. Just
bought the second and third drives asthey were on sale and are identical.
Neither my computer nor disk manager see the third drive.

It is not usually the best thing to mix a hard drive and a CD/DVD drive on
the same IDE channel and cable. But, if you must make the hard drive the
Master device and the CD the Slave device on that cable and see what you
get. (Assuming you have all the jumpers set correctly as things are before
the swap.)

On IDE, remember, the Master device goes at the end of the cable and the
Slave device is on the middle connector.
