Default Strange XP Pro Install CD Behavior

Trying to reinstall XP Pro (after software testing) - deleted my 40GB
partition, booted from the CD, got "Setup is examining your hardware..." tehn
the screen goes blank. That's it. This is the same CD I've used to install
on the same hardware (no changes) before.

Linux CDs and my Windows 2000 CD all boot & install with no problem. My XP
Pro CD boots & installs on another system (my laptop). If I install & boot
into Win2K first, I can install XP Pro from CD.

I've changed cables, CD drives, removed my 2nd HDD - none of it works. I'm
stumped - am I looking at some real obscure, non-drive hardware failure?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

HI,
Try to clean that disk on CD cleaner. Maybe it cannot access something
because of dirty cd.
