Default Do computers make us lazy?

Do you go out less and think society is lazier now that PCs are common place?

The population is getting fatter and employees don't even need to leave their desks (all e-mail/word processor based). Can't be good can it?

I thought about how much time I spend in front of the PC working, and it's scary. Most of that is just work for university, so there isn't much choice.

You could be right Ian - the number of questions we get here when a simple google search would do the trick illustrates peoples laziness to me

Ok, Ok grumble over....

They never left their desks before computers ... hell, you could even have a smoke at your desk, now you have to go outside.

Work? ... how long do you think it would have taken to complete the same 'work' by hand ... would you like to hand-write a 40,000 word dissertation, in double-space, with 2" margins ... and so everybody can read it?

Naw, computer don't make us lazy, people do that themselves.

Now what did I vote for?

ah now, you see that don't wash with me, and, more and more people are also realising ... typing crap into a computer produces crap ... they just do it very fast.

I don't blame the computer, I am on the computer for work reason officially and due to my hobbies in the evenings. Anyone involved in active hobbies like photography, cannot be termed as a lazy person!
