Microsoft word doesn't quit properly

Symtom:
Terminal server thin client users experience extremely slow service
When I look at the session with the terminal manager I can see that Winword
is running But the user sees nothing. It doesn't show on the task bar so
they can't help themselves I can end the task in the manager. or they can
log of and back on.

So why is Word not quitting properly?
