Just about my favorite program is Windows Movie Maker.
I have been using it since its inception with no problems at all. Yesterday it suddenly stopped importing any of my .gif files with an error message that "this file is corrupted, or has been moved' It takes all my other files including .jpg, but will no longer open any of my ..gif files. My question is, If it remove the program and re-install it, will it be the same or work as it has been doing for all of these years. Thanking you in advance Lou |

Movie Maker cannot be re-installed. If you are not using SP2 then that would
be the best bet to try. Other things to try: 1. Reinstall latest runtime of DirectX: full install: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en (http://tinyurl.com/9myu5) 2. (Re)install Windows Media Encoder http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...er/default.aspx Reboot as required. If the above two steps do not work, try following: 3. Close all programs and run this batch file: http://www.rehanfx.org/utils/reregdlls.bat If even that doesn't help then the only option seems to *re*install Service Pack 2 (SP2). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&displaylang=en (http://tinyurl.com/5bobl) -- Rehan MS MVP -- Digital Media www.rehanfx.org - get transitions and effects for Windows Movie Maker "louangel" <louangel@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news DB8BAB1-1E5B-422F-8808-1050D9FFF1BF@microsoft.com...> Just about my favorite program is Windows Movie Maker. > I have been using it since its inception with no problems at all. > Yesterday it suddenly stopped importing any of my .gif files > with an error message that "this file is corrupted, or has been moved' > It takes all my other files including .jpg, but will no longer open any of > my > .gif files. > > My question is, > If it remove the program and re-install it, will it be the same > or work as it has been doing for all of these years. > > Thanking you in advance > > Lou |
