Default backing up camcorder mini dv's

What is the latest technology to back up camcorder tapes? I've been backing
up to DVD+RW's until I recently heard that the quality changes in 2 years.

So your saying to use the same thing the original is on. How do I go about
that? Do you copy to hard drive and then back to a new tape inside the
camcorder? I also wanted to be able to view them easier than hooking the
camcorder to the tv. Are there any options on the market to do this?

I'm using two camcorders... playing the 8mm/HI8 tapes in an analog one, and
dubbing it to the DV tape in my mini-DV camcorder.... using RCA cables for
the audio and an S-video connection for the video.

Not all camcorders have the S-video connection, and not all can do DV-in via
dubbing....

My computer isn't involved in the dubbing process

================================
Several companies are making
MiniDV VCRs.

The following is just an example:

JVC HRDVS3 Mini DV
S-VHS Single Deck VCR

It seems as if I'm going backward in technology to backup tapes with tapes
and then buy VCR type equipment.

I know I have stuff archived on DVD's that are more than 2 years old and
they still work perfectly.
Some people have commented that they only last 2 years but the truth is we
don't really know for certain how long they will last. I save all my
original DV tapes just in case I ever need the footage again but my own
projects are backed up to DVD's that I date and plan to copy to HDD and burn
to a new DVD after 5 years. By then the technology should be to the point
where I won't need to worry about it anymore after that.
