Hi all,
One more question in the same context....What are the documents that one should search for with the licenses or the documents that one can ask for from the distributor of the licenses? Are there any documents shipped by microsoft with XPe licenses?? Perhaps a good answer to this question would help a lot of ppl to look for the right documents with their XPe licenses instead of posting the licenses related questions on this forum. |

Hi Savant
First of all, you need a Embedded OEM CLA (Customer license agreement) to get embedded licenses. You can get a CLA through your Embedded Distributor. So, most "paperwork" is in this agreement. With the licenses, there are only a few documents: - BTS (break the seal agreement): This is a red or yellow seal over the license envelope. So, if you break the seal, you must have a CLA in place and read and follow the ALPs. - ALP (Additional License Provisions). the ALP is attached at the back of the license envelope. There are defined some restrictions for an "embedded system" and the usage of the licenses. - PID (Product identification). This is the license code to use in the target designer to get rid of the 120-day timebomb and the "evaluation copy". The PID was on every COA but now, there is only a paper in the envelope with your PID. You need only one PID to "activate" your image for a whole product family. - COA (Certificate of authentity): This is the "real" license sticker.
