What can I do to restore hover buttons?
I recently updated this page http://members.cox.net/wgander/MyBoat.htm and the hover buttons disappear as the page appears on your screen; they are next to Projects: at the middle and bottom of the screen. They always worked before and they work on my PC. I've uploaded and refreshed the page several times and FP Extensions has been reactivated. (My ISP allows FP and FTP, but offers no help on FP. My ISP hasn't changed anything, and neither have I.) WinXP Home, Sp2 and FrontPage 2000 |

XP SP2 does not have Java Virtual Machine installed, which is required for Hover buttons.
It must be manually downloaded and installed from Sun Java. For this reason, most folks have stopped using Hover Buttons. -- Steve Easton Microsoft MVP FrontPage 95isalive This site is best viewed.................. ...............................with a computer "William Andersen" <wgander@cox.net> wrote in message news:%23JbkXVhEGHA.268@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > What can I do to restore hover buttons? > I recently updated this page http://members.cox.net/wgander/MyBoat.htm and > the hover buttons disappear as the page appears on your screen; they are > next to Projects: at the middle and bottom of the screen. Hover buttons can't been seen by search engines so make sure you have text links also and also for those that can't see the hover buttons due to using a screen reader or having scripts turned off in the browser.. they also take ages to download and frequently mess up .... consider text links instead. hth Tina NEW FRONTPAGE TIPS Ebook - Volume Two. $5. Thanks to both of you for the prompt posts and information.
I used Hover Buttons only because they looked nice, so I'll use another way to link to those pages. The site is my personal web space, and those pages reached by the Hover Buttons did not have to be accessed directly; I'm not concerned about a Search Engine being able to find them. I am concerned about slow downloads, as some of the intended viewers use dial up. In this particular case, the path to the fphover.class file is corrupt
