Exactly after 10 minutes my Windows/XP PRO P4 3.2ghz system gets a blue
screen with the message STOP:C000021a Process System Process Terminated Unexpectedly. I removed the last application I installed (SpyDoctor) and cleaned the registry but the problem continues. I've read posts on the internet about most STOP 0xC000021A errors occurring because Winlogon.exe fails because of a faulty third-party Graphical Identification and Authentication (GINA) DLL or Msginadll. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Bob |

Can you please post the full text of the error report? I suggest you Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced, StartUp and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before Automatically Restart. Enable automatic restart on system failure after you have captured / copied and pasted the message in a further post here. There will also be Error Reports in Event Viewer. Please post copies. You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important. HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...7&Product=winxp A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer. -- Hope this helps. Gerry ~~~~ FCA Stourport, England Enquire, plan and execute ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Robert J. Gerry,
I did what you said, booted in safe mode, and after 10 minutes received this exact error message before reboot: "LSASS.EXE Terminated Unexpectedly with status Code 1073741819" Found stuff on Symantec and McAfee websites re: W32.Sasser.E.Worm (Lsasss.exe). I'm trying to run the fix exe but the system shuts down at the 10min mark before it is complete. Still working on the event log. Any thoughts? Robert
lsass.exe is a genuine windows file. I have three copies on my system dated 4 August 2004 ( size 13 kb ). One is located in the System32 folder, another in the i386 folder and a third in the dll cache. A fourth copy is dated 18 August 2001 is to be found in the uninstall folder ( size 12 kb ). However, a file of the same or a similar name is implicated with some particularly nasty viruses. A tool is available to remove the Sasser worm variants http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841720/en-us -- Hope this helps.
