New Features

*Indexing of OpenOffice.org (1.1 and 2.x) and StarOffice (7.x and 8.x)
files, including text documents, spreadsheets and presentations
(requires Internet Explorer 6 or later) (1.63)
*New Internet Explorer toolbar for desktop and Web searches.
*New Firefox toolbar for desktop and Web searches.
*Completely redesigned deskbar category selection window for better
usability.
*New "Pause indexing when running on battery power" option for laptop
users.
*New shortcut key to open the application main window from any other
application (default key combination is Windows Key + C)
*Indexing of all non-password-protected Outlook Express identities
(rather than only the default identity) (1.61)

Other Improvements/Changes:

*Toolbar now available for Firefox 1.5 (1.63)
*"The Web" searches are now performed in a new default browser window
*Default delay before resuming the indexing process is now 2 minutes
of idle computer time instead of 30 seconds
*Enhanced visual definition of the last used category in the deskbar
category selection window (1.61)
*Various improvements to MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, PDF and RTF
file handlers (1.61)
*Miscellaneous usability and performance improvements (1.6, 1.61,
1.63)

updates and my version 1.6 build 740 tells me it's the most recent version!

I searched the archive of this group to see if DocYouMeant Hound had
ever been mentioned.
It apparently has not, so I would like to recommend it as an
alternative.

The most important change for me is that now Copernic integrates
OpenOffice in the search - this was already possible through manual
changes in the preferences - but now also allows previewing OOo docs.

I run Copernic, Yahoo and Google Desktop Search simultaneously. I
think my copy of Copernic may be going very soon.

Although Copernic was one of the earlier search companies and should
have a lot of experience, I feel its desktop search product is not as
good as something like Yahoo Desktop Search.

How well does this work in real life?

Is it like the $$$ware Sleuthhound?
