I want to import files on a web site. Timeout problems are dictating that I
import files one at a time. This is a laborious method if I choose the File menu, then Import, then Add File and then reorder the list each time to find the next file to import. It would help if the file list was displayed in the same sequence with file details instead of having to reset every time. I think I will resort to ftp instead. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. If you have the site open in FP, then you can select the files as a group from the folder on your HD
and then drag-n-drop them into the current open FP web / site. DO NOT use copy and paste! -- ============================================== Thomas A. Sounds like the OP is importing files into the "live" open web (which might
explain the time-outs)? Is that the best idea, or is importing better for a local disk-based web? "Thomas A. You can import or drag-n-drop with either live/remote server based web with FP extensions or local
disk-based web. -- ============================================== Thomas A. sometimes I'll do it on the server, like if I want to put a zip file there
for someone specific to download, rather than putting the file in the local copy and publishing it up I've found it easier and quicker to simply open the "live" web and hit file/ import (browse to the zip or whatever) and import it into the server web from my local machine. I've also done this with some pretty fat files (like 8-10MB). works good for me. sometimes I'll hit the "modify" button to give the file a specific name (other than the one on my local machine, usually the customer's name) :-) -- Chris Leeds, Microsoft MVP-FrontPage If you make web sites for other people, you should check out ContentSeed: http://contentseed.com/ -- "Andrew Murray" <SPAMadmurray@BUSTER.iinet.net.au> wrote in message news:un5oWscAGHA.1248@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > Sounds like the OP is importing files into the "live" open web (which > might explain the time-outs)? > > Is that the best idea, or is importing better for a local disk-based web? > > > > "Thomas A.
