Hi,
i get an error in the application log: Event Type: Error Event Source: LicenseService Event Category: None Event ID: 202 Date: 12.12.2005 Time: 05:43:15 User: N/A Computer: server1 Description: The product IIS 5.0 is out of licenses. Use License Manager from the Administrative Tools folder for more information on which users are out of compliance and how many licenses should be purchased. The server1 is our license server for terminal services, exchange 2000 (and has licenses for exchange 5.5 which where migratet to 2000). Why do i need licenses for IIS 5.0 ? I am looking in the licensing under product view i can see IIS-> 4 licenses per seat allocated. per server purchased 0 per server reached 0 We are using outlook web access. I get another error in the system log: Event Type: Warning Event Source: TermServLicensing Event Category: None Event ID: 17 Date: 09.12.2005 Time: 07:54:04 User: N/A Computer: server1 Description: One or more Terminal Services Licensing certificates on server S1BONN are corrupt. Terminal Services Licensing will only issue temporary licenses until the server is reactivated. See Terminal Services Licensing help topic for more information. has anybodoy an idea what should be done to solve this problem? regards |

The first EventID (202) is about server CALs.
The Licensing Logging Service is known to report incorrect information and is by default disabled in Windows 2003 SP1. First, check how many server CALs you have (you need one for every client). Then either update the information in License Manager, entering the number of licenses per seat which you own, or disable the Licensing Logging Service altogether. 824196 - Description of the License Logging Service in Windows Server Operating Systems http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824196 153140 - How to reset License Manager information http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=153140 The second EventID (17) is more serious. You will have to do what is adviced in the descriptin of the event, i.e. reactivate the TS Licensing Server. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net *----------- Please reply in newsgroup -------------* "=?Utf-8?B?UmV4IEtyZW1lcg==?=" <rex@news.postalias> wrote on 12 dec 2005: > Hi, > > i get an error in the application log: > > Event Type: Error > Event Source: LicenseService > Event Category: None > Event ID: 202 > Date: 12.12.2005 > Time: 05:43:15 > User: N/A > Computer: server1 > Description: > The product IIS 5.0 is out of licenses. I don`t get why i should be out of license for IIS. In the property`s tab for the iis license i see 4 users and the laste date when the license was used is in september 2003.Can i revoke them? All other licenses are fine. I have more than enough server cals. How do i reativate the ts license. Did you read the 2 KB articles I referred to? They explain, as I
did, that the Licensing manager often is incorrect. So either follow KB 153140 to re-enter your server CALs, or disable the Licensing Logging Service.
