We import from data from a student application software. After exporting to Excel, it drops the leading 0s in a feild called OtherID. After I format the cells to text , adding 0s and save it again to .cvs file, it drops the 0s again. Is there any way for us to keep the leading 0s in .csv file. Use notepad to look at the .csv file. You should see the leading 0's there.
The leading 0's get lost when you open that file in excel. xcao wrote: > > We import from data from a student application software. > > After exporting to Excel, it drops the leading 0s in a feild called > OtherID. > > After I format the cells to text , adding 0s and save it again to .cvs > file, it drops the 0s again. > > Is there any way for us to keep the leading 0s in .csv file. > > Thanks > > -- > xcao > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > xcao's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.ph...fo&userid=14538 > View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthrea...threadid=491895 -- Dave Peterson |
