I have been struggling with this for a bit now and I cannot figure it out.
Last week I changed from DSL to T1. I went from using a modem/router to using just a router. This also included an IP Address change. VPN did not work immediately after the switch. I found a reference to the old IP address in the routing policy, so I changed that. This did not, however, solve the problem. I removed all restrictions including placing the server in a DMZ to no avail. I have had a long tech call with the router people and they have indicated that it is the server. The only thing that I have noticed that may shed light on the subject is the iaslog file entry for starting RAS. It looks as though there is a login entry before the change and now there is a blank where the login would occur. Here are the log file entries: Before IP Change 192.168.1.200,administrator,11/13/2005,15:50:02,RAS,SERVER1,4,192.168.1.200,6,2,7,1,5,6,61,5,64,1,65,1,31,24.180.79.226,66,24.180.79.226,25,311 1 192.168.1.200 07/18/2005 11:19:42 118,44,880,8,192.168.1.120,12,1500,50,215,51,1,55,1131915002,45,2,40,1,4108,192.168.1.200,0,,4147,311,4148,MSRASV5.00,4120,0x00504152545346494E495348494E47,4294967206,4,4136,4,4142,0 192.168.1.200,administrator,11/13/2005,16:19:44,RAS,SERVER1,4,192.168.1.200,6,2,7,1,5,6,61,5,64,1,65,1,31,24.180.79.226,66,24.180.79.226,25,311 1 192.168.1.200 07/18/2005 11:19:42 118,44,880,8,192.168.1.120,12,1500,50,215,51,1,55,1131916782,45,2,46,1780,43,2635512,42,42624933,48,20330,47,34287,49,1,40,2,4108,192.168.1.200,0,,4147,311,4148,MSRASV5.00,4120,0x00504152545346494E495348494E47,4294967206,4,4136,4,4142,0 After IP chang 192.168.1.200,,12/06/2005,05:57:06,RAS,SERVER1,4,192.168.1.200,44,926,40,8,4108,192.168.1.200,0,,4136,4,4142, 192.168.1.200,,12/06/2005,05:57:14,RAS,SERVER1,4,192.168.1.200,44,927,40,7,4108,192.168.1.200,0,,4136,4,4142,0 Note that after the IP address in the first two entries there is an entry "administrator". Assuming you use PPTP VPN, what's the error code? or any errors in the event Viewer?

In this case, I would check the new router or firmware first.

It did turn out to be the router. I switched it out with another and there
was no problem. I had talked to the router company, but there must have been some part of the configuration that was not right. Thanks!
