Looks good, Postill will probably rocket into first place after he requested a bulk mail to go round college...

So look out for postill's username, if it rocket's skywards then it'll be college student's on his username

Or maybe not, Mr Postill's just been told off by the System Administrator's for trying to bulk mail the information about WCG round college

Not likely.

My email:

Quote:

Hi Esther,

Could you please send this to all students – I’m sure it’s for a cause close to many peoples hearts and (Backed by IBM and a University) will help find cures for Cancer and Aids.

It’s a perfectly safe program, will not harm computers, or affect speed, as you can run it just as a screensaver. It returns results to the server via the internet every so often and you don’t need to do anything to it other than leave it be.

Thanks for your help in this cause

Regards

Chris Postill

WORLD COMMUNITY GRID

Please help to cure Aids and Cancer by installing this program and it will run when your computer isn’t doing anything else. You can even set it just to run as a screensaver so you wont even notice it when you are using your computer normally.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/files/WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe is the link to the program.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org: gives you all the information on the program and its details. Its 100% spy ware and Adware free, so you have nothing to worry about in that aspect.

Instructions:

Tick the existing member box when installed

Username: Chris_Postill Password: xxxxxxxxx

Thanks for your help in fighting these diseases.

Chris

I then recieve the following:

Quote:

Hello Chris

Please see the message below from our IT Services Manager. I will not be able to circulate the emails for you.

Keep caring,

Esther

Subject: RE:

I agree - I wouldn't advise installing this. It may not be dangerous, but if it were to be installed and then cause a problem, IT Services will be left to clear it up. Emailing students will only encourage them to try and install the software on campus.

I advised Chris some time ago that this is not suitable for the college environment and will not / should not be installed. I'm a little disappointed that it has been raised once more.

Chris
I am very suspicious about this type of thing (I normally just delete!). Could you give me your opinion please?

Thanks

Esther

To which i reply:

Quote:

Sorry, I think you mis-understood me...

I meant to enlighten people about the program so that they would do it at home, by no means here as I understand this is against policy, and wouldn’t want to cause any problems...

I can re-word the email and make this clear and send this around right?

Kind Regards

Chris

And receive the following:

Quote:

No - this remains unacceptable.

Please refer to the college Computer Usage Agreement for clarification on how we expect the email system to be used. The matter in no way relates to your studies and therefore is not appropriate for circulation on the college network.

I do not believe that any wording could ensure that students who read the email on campus will not be tempted to try downloading and installing the application - at which point it may become an issue that will cost my team (and the college) time and money to correct any potential issues that may subsequently arise.

I can't work out if you two are best mates who love to argue, or worst enemies!

You're always arguing, trying to out-do eachother, telling on each other, criticising each other... best friends or worst enemies. Can't work out which!
