I need to move my MM project to another computer.
Can someone explain the best way to save (which format - AVI or WMV)? so I can import on a different computer to continue my project. I need to be able to continue editing such as changing transitions, music, etc. I have saved the file as a AVI and WMV when importing I cannot make changes to the music or transitions. thank you -- nhj |

Also you will have to transfer your original videos / images / etc. to the new computer. If your files show up in MM with a big Red X... right click / browse...to find the file. -- John Inzer MS Picture It! MVP How to ask a newsgroup question: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 |

I rec'd the following error message:
\My Videos\BIRTHDAY.MSWMM is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker. I have already moved all my files that are related to this project but I rec'd this message when trying to import. What should I do now? -- nhj "John Inzer" wrote: > nhj wrote: > > I need to move my MM project to another computer. > > > > Can someone explain the best way to save (which format - > > AVI or > > WMV)? so I can import on a different computer to continue > > my project. > > I need to be able to continue editing such as changing > > transitions, music, etc. > > I have saved the file as a AVI and WMV when importing I > > cannot make changes to the music or transitions. > > thank you > =================================== > You need the project file...this is created > by going to...file / save project as...the file > will have the .MSWMM extension. > > Also you will have to transfer your original > videos / images / etc. to the new computer. > > If your files show up in MM with a big Red X... > right click / browse...to find the file. > > -- > > John Inzer > MS Picture It! Sorry, I forgot to explain that I first did "file/Open Project"
The error message I rec'd was: MyVideos/Birthday.mswmm is not a valid Windows Movie Maker Project file. To import a picture, audio, or video file to use in your project, on the File Menu, Select Import into Collections. So I tried to import! This is the next error message: \My Videos\BIRTHDAY.MSWMM is not a supported file type, > > and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker. If I do file import - AVI or WMV imports the project but it doesn't allow me to make changes to the music or transitions. It sounds like I am going to have to rebuild my movie from your previous instructions. -- nhj "John Inzer" wrote: > nhj wrote: > > I rec'd the following error message: > > > > \My Videos\BIRTHDAY.MSWMM is not a supported file type, > > and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker. > > > > I have already moved all my files that are related to > > this project but I rec'd this > > message when trying to import. > > > > What should I do now? > ==================================== > File / Open Project. > > -- > > John Inzer > MS Picture It! Try simply double clicking on the .MSWMM from Windows Explorer and see if it
opens WMM that way. -Wojo "nhj" <nhj@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E33A72E3-7B71-4368-A6FA-5DD7B3418FE7@microsoft.com... > Sorry, I forgot to explain that I first did "file/Open Project" > > The error message I rec'd was: MyVideos/Birthday.mswmm is not a valid > Windows > Movie Maker Project file. I think you were right originally John, the OP seems to be trying to import
the file rather than open it. Have you tried Wojo's suggestion, doubleclicking the mswmm file? -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "John Inzer" <oobie@doobie.xyz> wrote in message news:uGs6YdX6FHA.2576@TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... > nhj wrote: >> Sorry, I forgot to explain that I first did "file/Open >> Project" The error message I rec'd was: MyVideos/Birthday.mswmm >> is not a valid Windows Movie Maker Project file.
